# Can I Perform Theme Updates Easily?

## Theme updates in HubSpot can bring new features and improvements but may also affect existing customizations. Here’s how to perform theme updates safely.

1. **Create a Backup:**
   
     - Create a backup of your current theme files and settings.
     - Go to "Marketing" > "Files and Templates" > "Design Tools" and export your theme.
2. **Read Update Notes:**
   
     - Read the release notes of the new theme to understand the changes.
3. **Test Environment:**
   
     - Implement the update in a test environment first to identify any potential issues.
4. **Perform the Update:**
   
     - Go to "Marketing" > "Files and Templates" > "Design Tools".
     - Perform the theme update.
5. **Review and Adjust:**
   
     - Review all pages post-update and make necessary adjustments.
     - Fix any errors that arise.
6. **Publish:**
   
     - Once everything works smoothly, publish the changes on your live website.
